Heather began her artistic exploration early in life. Family historians recall her temporary yogurt installations under the kitchen table with great fondness. Eventually, she earned her BA in Music from Gustavus Adolphus College and later in Studio Art from the University of Minnesota. Today Heather lives in the Minneapolis/St. Paul area with her husband and their two children. When not in the studio she enjoys spending time with her family, reading, playing her flute, and gardening. Heather also spends a fair amount of time getting lost in her thoughts.
As an introvert and intuitive soul, my inner life often feels more real to me than the outside world. Ideas and impressions almost take on solid forms in my mind. The ways they intersect and influence one another draw me in and inspire my work. The abstract, mixed media layering I use in my creative process alternately mirrors and guides these quiet explorations. I invite the viewer to join me in these contemplative spaces where thoughts, memories, emotions, and beliefs layer and intermingle to give inner landscapes visual form.
