Fleur Indigo, New Series Release

This series grew organically out of my love for the colors and materials. I adore shades of blue, especially indigo! I began by creating six collages using a limited group of mono printed papers and fabric. I assembled the collages to take along on our visit with my parents in Florida last year. We were still shell-shocked after the death of my sister-in-law and I really needed the precious time spent with family. I worked on the beginning stages of the embroidery while relaxing by the pool, watching my kids, and spending healing time with my lovely Mama.

I continued working on these over the next year. Mid-way through the floral embroidery I ran out of the specialty bronze-toned Japanese thread I used and discovered it was discontinued. After quite a bit of searching, I was finally able to find a little quilt shop in Washington state with more. Whew!

Given all life threw at my family last year, these took me quite a long time to complete. I’m pleased to finally get them released, and I love how they turned out. Working on them helped me find balance and calm during a very difficult season of life. They represent peace and serenity.
